Ms. Barton’s
Classroom Procedures and Expectations
I will wear my badge to class every day and follow all the school's Code
of Conduct.
I will bring the needed supplies to class every day. This includes my
science journal, textbook, paper, pencils, pens, colored pencils, and a
scientific calculator.
I know that this is my classroom and I will take pride in it. I realize
that destruction of any kind to classroom furniture or equipment will be
cause for an immediate office referral. This includes writing or carving
on classroom furniture, books, or any fixtures.
I have read the attendance policy of MHS and know that it will be
followed in this class. I know that good attendance is a prime element in
being successful. When I am absent, I will check the lesson plans on Ms.
Barton’s Classroom website and the calendar for due dates.
I realize that I will miss important information if I am tardy. I will
be in my seat before the tardy bell rings, working quietly on my entry
task. Mojave's High's tardy policy will be enforced. Entry tasks will be
on the overhead each day when you enter. You may put a week's entry tasks
on one sheet of paper and turn them in on the last day of the week. Be
sure to label each entry task with the proper number and date. Example:
ET-1 (8/17)
Homework is an essential part of this class. It is defined as anything I
do that prepares me for class. I realize that some assignments must be
brought to class on time because we will use them for that day's
assignment. Assignments that are being used as part of class-work will not
be accepted late.
I realize that working together does not mean copying another student's
work. Copying the work of others will result in no credit for both the
person that is copying and the person who is allowing someone else to copy
their work. I know that if I am caught cheating, my parents will be
notified. I know that if there are continued problems I will be referred
to an administrator for consequences.
During class discussions, I will not talk unless I am called on. I
realize that the class can only hear when only one person speaks at a
time. When I want to talk, I will raise my hand and wait until I am called
on.
I realize that there are many ways of viewing the world and I will never
put anyone down for expressing viewpoints or values that are different
from mine. I will respect the rights of others. I know that profanity is
offensive to some people and therefore I will not use it in the classroom.
I will not get out of my seat for any reason when directions are being
given or during lectures.
When we are doing group work, I realize that the only students I may
talk to or interact with are the students in my group. I will lose
participation points if I interact with students who are not in my group.
I know that my Student handbook is used as a pass. I know that I cannot
leave the room if I do not have my handbook turned to the correct date and
filled out as to where I am going and what time I am leaving. I also know
that I am not allowed to use the handbooks of other students.
When an assignment is due, I will put it in the collection basket at the
beginning or end of class. When we take tests, I will turn it over when I
am finished and read a book until everyone else is finished. I will not
get out of my seat for any reason during tests. All students must bring a
book to read in case they finish an assignment before the rest of the
class finishes.
Parent/Guardian Contact:
* My parent/guardian(s) are very interested in my education and therefore
they will be contacted if my academic performance or behavior (positive or
negative) warrant it. Progress reports will be mailed out according to
school policy.
In order to be successful in Biology, I agree to follow the above
procedures, policies and expectations.
